The latest Engineering News-Record (ENR) 2026 rankings have highlighted a strong presence by Egyptian companies among the world’s Top 250 International Contractors, reflecting the scale of their overseas operations and their growing ability to compete for major projects in international markets.

The Top 250 International Contractors ranking is particularly significant because companies are ranked based not on their total revenues, but on contracting revenues generated outside their respective home countries. ENR’s 2026 ranking is based on international contracting revenues recorded during 2025.

ENR is one of the world’s leading publications covering the engineering, construction and contracting industries. It publishes several major annual rankings, including the Top 250 International Contractors and the Top 250 Global Contractors, with the latter based on total contracting revenues generated both domestically and internationally.

Elsewedy Electric ranked 66th globally on the 2026 list of international contractors, after not appearing in the previous year’s published ranking. ENR also highlighted the Rabigh combined-cycle power plant in Saudi Arabia, which Elsewedy Electric is executing in partnership with Siemens Energy, with the project valued at more than $1 billion.

Meanwhile, ENPPI recorded one of the strongest advances among Egyptian companies, climbing to 68th place globally in 2026 from 98th in 2025, an improvement of 30 positions in just one year.

Petrojet also made significant progress, rising to 83rd place globally from 107th in the 2025 ranking, advancing 24 positions. The improvement reflects the growing contribution of the company’s international operations under ENR’s ranking methodology.

By contrast, The Arab Contractors ranked 117th globally in 2026, compared with 93rd the previous year, according to ENR’s published data, marking a decline in its ranking.

Orascom Construction ranked 29th among international contractors in 2026, up from 40th in 2025. However, ENR lists the company as headquartered in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, an important distinction when interpreting the ranking, as “international” revenue is defined in relation to the company’s designated home market.

Overall, the latest results point to continued growth in international contracting activity. The combined international revenue of the world’s Top 250 International Contractors increased by 9.7% to $550.6 billion, up from $501.2 billion, according to ENR. The publication also reported that 65.8% of companies that submitted comparable data for both years recorded growth in their international revenues.

The published figures therefore highlight the growing presence of Egyptian companies in international contracting markets, led by the notable advances of ENPPI and Petrojet, alongside Elsewedy Electric’s strong position in the ranking.

More broadly, ENR’s international ranking measures not merely the size of a company in its domestic market, but its ability to export engineering and contracting expertise, execute major projects across borders and generate revenues from overseas operations.
